Flying and Gliding
Flying and Gliding are some of the most exciting opportunities available to cadets, offering the chance to take to the skies and experience aviation first-hand. Cadets may fly as passengers in light aircraft or gliders, learning the basics of flight while gaining a real insight into how aircraft are operated.Air Experience Flights give cadets the opportunity to fly in aircraft such as the Grob Tutor, where they may even have the chance to handle the controls under supervision.
Gliding provides a different experience, focusing on silent flight and developing an understanding of aerodynamics and control. There are also opportunities to take part in flights on RAF transport aircraft, such as the Atlas A400M or Chinook helicopter, offering a unique perspective on military aviation. In some cases, cadets who demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm may be selected for particularly memorable experiences, making flying and gliding a highlight of their time in the organisation

The Air Cadet Pilot Scheme
The Air Cadet Pilot Scheme (ACPS) is an intensive, highly competitive scholarship program that enables Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) to receive up to 12 hours of flight instruction and achieve their first solo flight. The 2-to-3 week residential course is conducted at military or certified civilian airfields and serves as a vital stepping stone for cadets interested in aviation careers.
