Radio and Cyber
Radio and Cyber training in the RAF Air Cadets provides progressive skills in communication and digital security, structured around Blue, Bronze, Silver, and Gold badges. Cadets learn radio procedures for fieldcraft, alongside cyber security, online safety, and coding. Training ranges from basic awareness to specialized courses, including residential Gold courses and iDEA awards.

Blue: Introduction to basic radio procedures for administration and exercises.

Bronze: Develops skills to become a squadron radio officer, focusing on practical and written exams.

Silver/Gold: Involves building radio stations, antenna construction, and deploying networks in the field.

Blue: Focuses on cyber awareness, including online footprints, social media safety, and cyberbullying.

Bronze: Combines online safety training with achieving the Bronze iDEA award.

Silver/Gold: Covers ethical hacking, coding, and defensive/offensive techniques, often supported by Immersive Labs.
These skills are designed to be relevant to modern careers, with opportunities to train alongside professionals from No. 1 Radio School at RAF Cosford.
