432 (Woodbridge) Squadron is a long established unit, which has shared close bonds with the town of Woodbridge and surrounding areas for many years. RAFAC is a Volunteer-military youth organisation sponsored by the Royal Air Force that manages both the Air Training Corps and RAF Combined Cadet Force. The Drill Hall is located on Quay Street, Woodbridge and consists of three Flight classrooms, two offices, a live range and a mess room. Our Squadron strength is sufficient for two flights with a current parade of around 25 cadets.

Please visit our ‘What We Do’ sections to discover the activities available for cadets. Further joining instructions can be found below.

About 432 RAFAC

Flt Lt. John Kay is the Commanding Officer of 432 Sqn and is supported by various uniformed staff and civilian adult volunteers, many of which are former cadets themselves. Woodbridge is part of Norfolk and Suffolk Wing and this allows the various squadrons within the wing to share resources and organise larger activities across the county such flying, shooting, camping and field craft.

The Squadron meets every Wednesday evening between 1900-2130 hrs. During these 'Parade Nights' there is a set training programme scheduled by the Squadron Training Officer.

What We Do

In the winter months, the squadron focuses on teaching the Progressive Training Syllabus. Some examples of the syllabus include basic aviation related subjects (BTECs), use of radios, drill discipline and maintaining uniform, which is taught by the adult volunteers at the squadron. By completing various stages of the syllabus, cadets can progress up through classifications and aim towards promotion.

In the summer months, the squadron emphasises practical training, including sports and organising the Cadets Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme training, as well as field craft and adventure training. Further to this, weekend training and exercises are common at 432 (Woodbridge) Squadron, so there is every possibility of a weekend 'in the field'!
